Twitter Map Explanation

This network analysis demonstrates connections between key players on Twitter in the realm of data protection and privacy. These actors were collected following a thorough review of the most active and oft quoted actors on the subject on Twitter. The resulting network demonstrates who follows whom and who are they followed by. By clicking on any individual node (an actor) you can see more clearly the edges (links) to their twitter followers or individuals they follow. This network analysis allows us to view just how interconnected the actors of various sectors - private companies, government regulatory bodies, government surveillance bodies, private whistleblowers and activists as well as NGOs and technicians - are within the conversation of data protection and privacy regulation.

Just click in the search bar and type an actor name to see who they follow and who follows them. For example type “NSA” and you will see how they are connected on Twitter under "Connections".

Note some actor followers have been removed from the network if they did not follow or were followed by any additional actor.
